Description: Pencil on Paper. An early sketch for the The Tower of Orthanc by Greg Hildebrandt and Tim Hildebrandt. Although it was unused this sketch was the precursor to the painting Saruman at Orthanc in the 1976 calendar. Greg dug into his archives to find the few remaining Tolkien sketches that he owned in 2000 when Spiderwebart began to design the Tolkien art of The Brothers Hildebrandt art book, published by Watson-Guptill. This sketch may have some tears in it, but that in no way takes away from its beauty. The computer image does not do this drawing justice. This sketch was signed by Greg & Tim Hildebrandt prior to Tim's death in 2006. Framed Size 26.5 X 33 |
