Description: This is the final sketch for the cover painting. This drawing was scanned and transferred to the canvas for Greg to paint on. Guardians of the Galaxy was the highest grossing super-hero film of 2014, and Greg consider’s it one of the great modern sci fi adventure stories. Of all the Marvel movies that have been released, Guardians of the Galaxy is his favorite. In the comics, Guardians of the Galaxy is often comprised of different groups of characters working to defend the Milky Way from dangerous threats. Though the cast may change, the goal is always the same. Greg was thrilled when he found out that he would be painting all of the characters he grew to love from the movie. Though he intentionally does not try to capture any likenesses of the actors, the opportunity to paint Rocket, Groot, Gamora, Drax, and Star-Lord was one that Greg could not pass up! This is the first time Greg Hildebrandt has drawn or painted any of the Guardians of the Galaxy characters.
