Description: First created in 1930 to be a simple radio promotion voice for Street and Smith Publications, the Shadow was so well liked that he became the star of his own show! In 1931 he was given his own publication called, The Shadow Magazine, and by 1937 he had his own radio show! This lead to the famous quote that everyone knows so well:
"Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!"
The Shadow is considered to be the character that helped define the superhero archetype. He was stylized, had sidekicks, faced super villains, and possessed a secret identity. Like some modern day heroes, he preferred to stick to the shadows and darkness where he would terrify his enemies under the cover of night!
In this black board Greg also included the stunning Margo Lane. Margo is The Shadow’s trusted agent. When Margo isn’t fighting crime along side The Shadow, she finds herself among high society crowds. She can make herself friendly and trusted by those who are involved with any sort of crime that The Shadow is looking so solve. Thus making her a valuable and sneaky agent.
In this powerful, high impact black board illustration, Greg has expertly captured the mystery, action, and adventure that is such an impressive part of The Shadow and Margo Lane, one of pop culture’s most beloved heroes and heroins!
