Description: This is the final image for the painting of Ming and Dale Arden!
Ming the Merciless, first appeared in the Flash Gordon comic strip in 1934. He was an evil Emperor on a fictional planet called Mongo where he ruled with many science fiction gadgets and an evil mind.
He uses his evil mind and magic tricks to attempt to marry Flash Gordon’s one true love Dale Arden. Dale Arden the beautiful heroine, is a woman who can take charge of her own life and can manage on her own along side Flash Gordon.
In this painting, Ming once again attempts to seduce Dale, but Dale chooses not to fear or give into the Evil Ming’s desires.
The beautiful warms and cools of this painting add depth and dimension to the piece. The cool shadows on Dale Arden’s figure subtly reflect the cool light coming in from the right side, as do the bright blue highlights on her metallic costume. To the left of the figures, the warm light pools in to the scene from the fictional city, it reflects and brings out the warmth in Dale’s skin and costume. The warm light brings out the bright and sunny golds in Ming’s grand cloak. The attention to detail, color, and light, make this painting more brilliant and the fantasy believable and alive.
